The ISM Code (International Safety Management Code) provides an International standard for the safe management and operation of ships and for pollution prevention and is compulsory for all passenger ships including passenger high-speed craft, oil tankers, chemical tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers, cargo high-speed crafts, other cargo ships and mobile offshore drilling units of 500 gross tonnage and upwards, engaged on international voyages. The code applies also to companies managing any of the above ship types.

The Code’s was developed in the late 1980s, with main purpose to ensure high management standards in shipping which were quite poor at the time. The Code aims to improve safety and pollution prevention at sea.
Our ISM is designed to ensure that the Company's activities are sufficiently controlled and updated in order to protect its personnel, property and the environment adopting at the same time all valid national and International rules and regulations relative to its operations.

The company has achieved ISM certification both ashore and onboard its vessels and is currently holding valid Document of Compliance under the authorization of all the areas where the company operates.

The Company's main belief towards ISM code is that all efforts and actions taken in order to comply with the Code, must be under the scope of prevention. Through continuous research, NAVARONE S.A. ensures that all activities follow that guideline.

Through the company’s many years of operation the ISM objectives became an integral part of the company's overall activities. These objectives are:
  • Safety at Sea
  • Human injury or loss of life prevention
  • Damage to the environment and to the ship avoidance
